A $50 Test Run

 On Jun-29-2010 NISA posted the following:

"It came to our attention that there are some video quality issues with our first anime titles, Toradora! and PERSONA -trinity soul-. We are taking these issues seriously and are currently working on fixing the problems. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience it may have caused. We will announce our steps to solve this issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience."

Not a great start for your venture into anime. I am curious as to how bad these problems are. Perhaps they look as awful as some of Funimation's old encodes. Either way, seeing as how they had plenty of time to work on these, it will make me think twice and research their future anime products. Hopefully they can figure out what they are doing as time goes on. I'll keep you updated if any screenshots happen to surface.

Rainy Day: Episode 1 - Through the Window

    Well, after working on it for a while and then failing and regaining hope, here it is. My new 4koma, "Rainy Day." I've got about 20 more already planned out to follow this up, but who knows when I'll get the motivation to do it... Please enjoy and comment!

"Otaku Talk" Episode 13 (Season Finale)

It's been 2 weeks since i started the Maria-sama ga Miteru torrent. And after many angry nights and many why the hell is my connection so slow days it has finished. though I've seen the first 2 seasons, i still wanted them because i love this anime. though it didn't get me at first. after about 5 episodes in is when the story caught my interest. Well, anyway i just thought i would let you guys know.

Soul Eater Finished!~

    We all know I'm horrible with reviews, so I'm not going to waste your time with anything unnecessary. I just finished Soul Eater literally two minutes ago and I was compelled to announce it formally on the blog because of it's intense awesomeness.

    It balanced the perfect amount of action and comedy wrapped up in an amazing plot topped off with an exciting conclusion. If you haven't seen the series, I urge you to go and watch it. It's a great anime and it is not to be missed.

Medal of Honor: Beta Review

Well, I've decided to Pre-Order Medal of Honor just to test out the Beta. So, here is my review of the Beta so far.

You can't play the game without comparing it to other First Person Shooter's such as Modern Warfare 2. This game makes it so it's Hard to spot an enemy. And you generally won't see them unless they are shooting or moving. The gameplay seems a little laggy. But also the gameplay seems a little more realistic than Modern Warfare. One pro is the Epic Beards (shown above). Or maybe that's just me. I do enjoy playing the game.

My vote so far is a pass. BUT, this is a Beta. Gameplay will most likely improve.

K-ON! Houkago Live!!

    I don't even normally like rhythm games, but for something as cute and moe as K-ON, I can make an exception. Sure, I've wanted the Hatsune Miku PSP game, but when that came out I had no money, and as time went on, I just decided not to get it. The one good thing about rhythm games is that they probably require very little to no knowledge of Japanese to play.

   The recently released gameplay video shows it all:


    I wasn't too interested in the anime. I loved it, but I never actually even finished the first season. Seeing this video makes me want to finish the anime and buy this game at the same time. But, knowing me... No matter how badly I want it, at around $65.00, I'll never be able to bring my self to buy it. The game is set for release on September 30th on PSP.

Major Torrent Sites Down~

    About 24 hours ago, three major suppliers of anime torrents all went down at the same time. To me it's pretty funny to imagine all of the mayhem this might have cause. Thankfully, I didn't have to download any torrents last night.

    The sites in question are, tokyotosho.info, nyaatorrents.org, and animesuki.com. Apparently, the server failures were brought about by a power outage where the servers are located.

A major power outage hit the inner city of Stockholm on the night to Friday. Nearly 70,000 housholds were affected in mainly the central and northern parts of the city.

Yeah I'm late, it was my cousins bday and I was chillin with her, a few other cousins, her fiance, my uncle, and my sis. It was funny because we randomly all bumped into each other at Sonic cuz we all went there for the happy hour slushy time!!! The strawberry is the best xD

Anywhoo after the we were done being dumbfounded by the crazy luck of bumping into each other we talked about doing something later. We spent from around 3:45~ish to about 4:40 just sitting there and talking about crap and then we were like hey lets go bowling since its her bday. So we call up the place and they said at 8pm they will have unlimited bowling for $10 a person (yes that includes shoes and all) yeah we have great deals at this alley.

Basically we spent from 8-12 bowling and now I am exhausted. This is why you had no post for today err yesterday. So I'll just leave you with this wonderful pic as a consolation prize.

Random Super Cute Time!!~

    So lately, I've been watching Onegai My Melody because I've been in need of something cute. And let me tell you, this show is full of cute. So full of cute, it hurts. I wanted to share the ending with everyone. The best and cutest part of the ending is right in the first few seconds when My Melo pops up and is seen running through the field. I cry tears of cuteness whenever I see that scene.

First Try at Coloring

    Here's the progress of my latest project. I took one of my older drawings and used my tablet to outline it and color it a bit. Then I freehanded some shadows in. The shadows really make the picture, so I'm going to have to try much harder next time.

    Haha, I know it's horrible, but first tries are supposed to be horrible, right? I'm hoping to get better, obviously. I'm going to try and pay closer attention to other artworks I see to try and pick up on more techniques.

Otaku Talk Delayed

Well, it's late and i haven't been able to do my show yet. I am busy getting stuff together for the move. But don't weep yet. Rejoice! For on Wednesday I will get Episode 12 out. Sorry for the Delay.

Atvrcr's Quick Picks # 2

Anime: 

Final Approach =This is a harem, comedy , slice of life from 2004. It wasn't the greatest but it is worth watching to kill some time. No real reason to get into the plot since you probably know how the harem thing goes by now. My score was a 7.

Hatenkou Yuugi - This anime was cool. It's only 10 episodes and is very fun. The story is about a girl named Rahzel who gets kicked out of her house and told by her dad to go see the world. I ended up rating the series a 9.

Manga: 

Yostuba&!  -This manga is extremely cute. Take all the awesomeness of Chiyo-chan from Azumanga and then multiply it by 10. There is no real plot, but it is a slice of life about a young girl, her neighbors, and friends.

Yurara - This is a shoujo manga that has themes such as the supernatural and spirits. I won't go into too much detail but let me tell you that it is awesome. There is a total of 4 volumes.

Game:

Star Ocean 3 - Go play this game nuff said.

Growlanser - This game is old and you can tell by it's art. It is extremely fun and worth playing so go go go.

Trading Card Game~ Kagami TCG!!

Quick Description:
    Kagami TCG was inspired by my rage when I couldn't find anywhere to buy anime trading cards that you can actually 'battle' with instead of just collecting.

Change of Plans

Well there will be a slight change of plans for "Otaku Talk" this week which may affect the blog for this weekend. I will not be doing my top 10 Favorite Endings this week. Reason being.... I'm moving soon. I don't know when i will have the internet back, so it may be a while before my videos show up again. I will do this week's show, but it may be the last for a while. I will be reviewing E3 in this episode. Sorry for this inconvience to my fans and to my fellow bloggers.

So Here's the Deal

I will be posting something new everyday next week starting on Sunday. What will these posts consist of? Well I have a few game reviews that need to go up as well as a few rants. This is all an effort to prove to Onion that the blog is INDEED active. E3: DAY 1

"Otaku Talk" Episode 11

WELL... I have been up for over 36 hours now. Getting anime watched and uploading to youtube. *YAWN* So without any further wait... I present to you...

Witch's Wish - Review (Nintendo DS)

    So yes, the day after I posted that post about there being no copies of Witch's Wish within 100 miles of me, I check the Gamestop website to find that a store about 15 minutes from me had the game. Anyway, I got it the other day, and I beat the story last night.

Overview: Witch's Wish is basically an interactive anime on a DS. Let me explain. First, the game plays in chapters. It has 12 normal chapters and 1 chapter that you unlock after completing the game; much like a normal anime that comes with a special episode upon release. Second, each chapter takes anywhere from 15 to 35 minutes to complete. Third, you don't really have much choices. The game pretty much flows along and asks you to do things that pretty much always lead to one outcome. But I'm not trying to say the game is bad. I'm just saying that it feels like an idea that was turned down as an anime and picked up as a Nintendo DS game haha. So then, let's start the review!

The Future of Gaming? God Help Us All.....

*Sigh* I get worried.... all this effort to bring motion-control to these "casual" gamers that don't really even like games in the first place. Now let me make this clear, when I say casual, I am talking about the people who only only like simple games and play for a less than 5 hours a week (approx)....yeah you know the kind I am talking about. Anyways I guess I should explain myself.

As you know, and if you don't you've been living under a rock, Sony and Microsoft are prepared to debut their versions of motion control . In a few days at E3 we expect to see the final versions of said products and set a price point. These are the Playstation Move, and Project Natal. Now sure, from a financial perspective, it's a smart move to try to tap into the casual market, but what does that mean for us, the "hardcore" crowd? My prediction... not good.

A Random Filler Post

Well since I haven't posted anything I thought I would put this up. First off, I will be returning home next Wednesday (the 9th) so I will be on alot more and can get back to posting frequently. I also have 2 things to put up here so look forward to that. Umm, once I return I would like to talk some more about doing that whole podcast thing, Otaku, Muzic, I'm looking at you two.

What else, what else, I would like to say that my 3 week vacation from the internet, anime, and whatever has actually been nice. Also, which game would you like to see reviewed first; FFXIII, Resonance of Fate, Ar Tonelico II, or  Mana Khemia 2?  Would you be interested if I did anime reviews/impressions as well? What else would you like to see me doing with this blog? Remember kids, the more ideas I have, the more I am able to post.
