20 Lesser Known Anime That You Should Watch

Need some random shows to watch? Want to learn of some new shows you may have not heard of before? Well this list is for you then.

Before I start I should clarify this post a bit. WHen I say lesser known I mean shows that aren't werent the biggest of its season/ aren't still hyped up to this day. Obviously all anime shows are going to have some sort of following, but I am talking about the shows that aren't the Haruhi's or the K-on's. These are all shows that I don't ever hear a whole lot about and when talking to other anime fans they don't have a clue about what I am talking about. Some of these may be bigger than I think they are, but oh well you get the idea. These are in no particular order

1. Kodomo no Omocha aka Kodocha

2. Super Gals! aka Gals!

3. Princess Tutu

4. Shadow Star Narutaru

5. Sakura Diaries

6. Yume de Aetara

7. Tonagura

8. Wind: A Breath of Heart

9. Lovedol: Lovely Idol

10. Cossette no Shouzou

11. Alien Nine

12. Area 88

13. Bokura ga Ita

14. Final Approach

15. Hatenkou Yuugi

16. Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na

17. Uta Kata

18. Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge

19. Inukami (this one may be a bit too well known for this list but meh)

I have only ever heard of Kodocha. Super Gals I heard about from you once and ended up downloading the whole series but I haven't watched it all yet.

Still I wouldve appreciated a single pic for eah of these. It seems like too much work for one onion to do.

Thanks for the awesome post dude!

I've heard of a number of them, but the only ones I've seen are Alien Nine (Really good, I second atv's recommendation) and then the OVA of Area 88 (I haven't seen the TV series, but I hear they're basically the same?). Area 88 had some super awesome aerial dog fight sequences and whatnot, which totally made it worth watching.

Tutu us a title that was released in the US not too long ago right? I see it talked about a lot. Petite Cossette is another one I see talked about. Bokura ga Ita is one of the few (well, maybe not "few") [Triad] subbed shows that I haven't watched yet, but they usually have an eye for a solid series, so I've got it on the to-watch list. Narutaru is another one that I hear is good. And Hatenkou Yuugi is one you've recommended me before.

Overall, sweet list. Good idea. I should totally do something like this.

Well the main reason I didn't put any pics is because I couldn't port them over to BW as well. It would have been a pain in the ass and I posted this right before I went to sleep so I was like meh.

Princess Tutu was licesned back in 2006 but it just recently got re-licensed by funi i think after ADV's resource shuffle.

I havent seen Area 88's OVA only the tv so I dunno if they are the same or not. Alien Nine was amazing for only being 3 episodes.

Narutaru was awesome, it look blah at first but it turns really good later on.

I'm downloading Alien 9 right now because a good recommendation came from both Atvrcr and Pandadice. Also, I didn't realize that Petite Cosette was on there. I've seen that one too :D

Lovedol: Lovely Idol was meh, but I liked it, mainly for the singing. Lol.
