The Meat Tragedy

This is a short story I made. It's pretty ridiculous, but enjoy. And remember to ignore spelling mistakes and such. I didn't proofread.

Chapter 1
   Another horrid day out. Well, for me anyway. Ugh... Sunlight. Who needs it... Rain! There's a better option. It smells good. It sounds better than even the most revered musical compositions in the world. You can stand under it and then later you don't even have to take a bath. Not like I can take a bath on this god forsaken piece of crap boat. That's right I'm on a boat. A horrible smelly boat that can only be considered manageable to be on when it is raining.

   "Meat!" yelled Piotr, "get the freaking crap out here!"

   And so it starts. Another day of getting bossed around by that moron Piotr Mansonite, idiot detective. Everyone thinks that he's a great detective just because he 'solved' over 40 cases. What people don't know, though, is that it's actually me who always solves the cases. Every single one, Piotr fumbles over the facts again and again until I put the pieces together for him, quite easily in fact. This leads me to only one possible outcome: Piotr Mansonite is a freaking moron.

   "Holy potato, Meat!" screamed Piotr with the fury of 12 suns, "what the crap is taking you?!"

   I should tell you a bit about myself. My name is Mitsuki Magilligan. Girl of eight and three quarters. I don't have much memory about my childhood, although I can remember that I haven't always lived with Piotr. I remember my Father. I remember watching him cry as Piotr carried me off. I have no idea why I had to be separated from my father. Piotr treats me like a slave and he's always got me doing the most mundane of things. Enough of the sad stuff... My hobbies include reading, solving puzzles, eating all types of food, and studying.

   "Meat, if you don't come out from that cabin this instant my head is going to freaking explode!" roared Piotr.

   I'd better get up there before Piotr explodes then.

   "Didn't I tell you that I hate the name Meat? Will you please stop calling me that? How about you try Mitsuki?! Just for once!" I said, "and what's this nonsense about your head hurting? It's not like your brain is big enough to account for pressure in there or anything..."

   Piotr sat there in his stupid tie. He thought that it made him appear more detective-like. I really hated that hat. He had his feet up on the center console and he had that stupid grin on his face. I hated that grin more than anything. It's equivalent to chewing on wood.

   "Meat, this is pretty serious," said Piotr in an urgent tone of voice, "Why else would I be calling you in such an urgent tone of voice? Look here. This letter was just delivered by homing pigeon. Here, read it. It's pretty scary to think about."

   I took the paper from his hands. The note was written in a very sloppy manner. It read as follows:

   You fool. You think I have time to deal with your nonsense? I have planted a bomb on your person Mr. Piotr, and it is scheduled to go off in exactly thirty days. Good luck finding the bomb and survivving.
               signed, MP

   This MP guy spelt 'surviving' incorrectly, I noticed. I lowered the letter and saw that Piotr still had that retarded grin on his face. I couldn't concentrate like this. I turned around. I thought.

   "Piotr, have you checked your clothes?" I asked him first.

   "Of course I checked my clothes. What do you think I am, dumb?" replied Piotr.

   I tried to resist the urge to answer that question. It was hard. I thought some more. The letter clearly said that it was on his person. If the sender of the letter wanted to simply kill Piotr then he would have just put a bomb on the boat. But since this is not the case, he must be specifically targeting Piotr. This guy must really want Piotr to suffer. I thought some more.

   If the bomb was not on Piotr's person then there are only two more options.

   "Piotr, there are two options," I said, "Either this letter is a horrible prank, or the bomb has been placed into your skull."

   "My skull?!" rebounded Piotr.

   "Yes, remember last year when you had your brain operation?"

   "Indeed I do."

   "Well, If I remember correctly, we have put many evil doctors behind bars. If one of those doctors was released from prison or had used their contacts, they could have somehow gotten a bomb inserted into your cranium."

   "I see..." said Piotr sadly, "So, what do we do?"

   I turned to him to see that same stupid grin on his face.

   "We go to a doctor and we get that lump of a head examined!" I yelled, happy to finally have a reason to get off of this boat and back onto land.

Chapter 2
   The inside of Doctor Chang’s office had a funny smell, just as I remembered it. It smelled like rainbows and peanut butter. But, me being a young girl of only Nine and three-quarters years old, I figure that I’m still not sure of all the smells in the world, and therefore I haven’t yet had a chance to smell a rainbow like other older folk have. Besides the smell, Chang’s office was quite well kept. Stacks of binders next to organizing shelves; folders lined up neatly on his desk.

   Chang walked into the room with confidence, however once he saw Piotr his shoulders fell, and his head went down. Something about this guy is fishy I thought. Chang sat down at his desk and Piotr had that stupid grin on his face, but this was different. It seemed like this face was on a whole new level of stupid.

   Suddenly, quick as a whip, Piotr stood up and whipped out his revolver. The gun hovered over Chang’s desk and pointed directly at Chang’s head. Chang rebounded and flung his floppy body along with his chair against the wall.

   “Make it quick, Chang! I know what you’re up to! Hand over the post MRI images from my operation and I won’t kill you!” screamed Piotr.

   I tried to calm him, “Piotr! What in the world are you doing?! You and your stupid antics are going to get us killed, or worse, thrown out of the hospital!”

   “Shut up Meat. This is none of your business. This guy has those files and he’s giving them to me one way or another,” said Piotr more calmly.

   I slowly put my hand over Piotr’s gun and pushed it downward. The last thing I need is a dead M.D. on my hands. Piotr’s eyes quickly glanced over and met mine. By the time his eyes shifted back to Chang, his normal goofy grin had returned. What’s wrong with this guy? He seems more insane than normal.

   “Now Dr. Chang, Please return my medical files to me and nobody will be harmed. Oh, and don’t forget that you have children,” demanded Piotr.

   “Y-You leave my children out of this. Here are your medical files,” responded Chang. He opened a draw behind the desk where neither Piotr nor I could see, all the time keeping his eyes on us. He began to reach down when Piotr raised his gun and put a bullet in the arm that Chang was reaching with.

   I was in shock. I couldn’t move. My body was shaking. Piotr had just shot this man. What was he thinking? Piotr noticed my shaking and yet seemed to ignore me, all the time keeping his eye on the writhing Chang who was now laying on the floor.

   “Relax Meat. He was going for a gun,” said Piotr.

   “He was only going to grab your medical files, you moron!” I screamed.

   I’ve never had the best reflexes. But that’s what made us such a good team. I was the brains that could solve any crime if I had a chance to sit and think about it. And Piotr could shoot a light bulb at 1000 feet with only one eye open and in the pitch dark. It was one of his very few redeeming qualities.

   “There are 3 reasons why I shot this man, Meat. Let me explain. Number 1, when you’re going to reach for a file in a draw, you reach overhand. This man had his hand positioned in an awkward sideways position which can only lead me to believe that he was about to grab a gun.” Piotr continued, all the while Chang continued to grunt, “Number 2, Chang is a very organized man, so why would he reach into his desk for a file when he clearly has this cabinet labeled ‘patient files’ near his door?”

   I looked around the room. There was indeed such a cabinet by the door. Amazing I thought to myself. Piotr has never been able to reason like this. Why now of all times are his abilities starting to shine?

   “And what is the final reason?” I asked.

   “Right. Reason number 3: Reasons numbers 1 and 2 should not be ignored. Basically, the first two reasons were already enough evidence to convict Chang of his crime to be.” concluded Piotr.

   I kind of looked at him like he was an idiot, but I had no time for making fun of Piotr, I had to get over to that draw in the desk and confirm that there was a gun. Sure enough, on top of the files there was a mini pistol. I picked it up and was ready to inspect it when I noticed the files underneath because they were quite bulky. There was a marked that read ‘Special Cases’ and the first file I pulled up was a considerably bulky one with the name ‘Piotr Mansonite’ printed on the tab.

   As I stared in shock, I looked up, with my wide eyes, and saw Piotr and his dumb grin. He lowered his gun. I looked over at Chang. He wasn’t moving. We took the file and left the building.

anyone who reads the stuff I write, whether it be here, at baka-wolf, facebook or whatever, knows that I love to do game reviews. Unfortunately I haven't done a game review in quite some time, and if anyone cares, there is a reason for this. I learned that my pure fanboy way of reviewing games was bad. So now I've decided to up my game and do some actual decent reviews that reflect the game itself and now my fanboy opinion. As of now I have three of them that I am working on, actually two of them would have been done sooner if my PS3 didn't die (causing me to have to start these games all over).

The three games are: Ar Tonelico III, Catherine, and Hyperdimension Neptunia. I hope you read them when they come out.

Catherine [PS3/XBOX360] Review

Alright as title says, this is a review, but putting that aside first, I would like to say, I am not posting this before atvrcr just to be the ass that I might want to be saying "FINISHED BEFORE ATVRCR" just for fun. Anyways, I have been saving up for quite a few games, thus I was not able to buy the deluxe edition that atvrcrc did sadly, but I did purchase the OST CD + art book. For all you people reading this and might be interested in getting what I got, the OST CD only has 11 tracks of the main BGM, but not all, and the art book, well I'll let you find out yourself I guess.

This game is about a man Vincent, aged 32, that has a girlfriend called Katherine, which has been his girlfriend for 10(?) years. As Katherine pushes onto Vincent to get married and seal the deal, Vincent feels uneasy and feels that things should stay as it is... Not too long after, another girl enters Vincent's life, This time being called Catherine, how will things work out for Vincent? I'll leave you to find that out.

Alright down to the knitty gritty, this game consists of around 9 days for one play through (for all modes, Easy, Normal and Hard). I'm actually pretty confident in my memory for once, thus I shall leave it at 9. Each day, you would be set to climb up a few stages, usually 2-3 at the first 5 or so stages. At the last stage of the nightmare for that day, you will transit into a cut scene as the story still continues. In between the floors, you would are allowed to save, buy items (doing so will not allow you to get a gold trophy.), talk to other people, learn new climbing techniques, and lastly you will have to enter a confessional, in which they will ask you a question you will need to answer, and upon what you answer, your "karma gauge" is what I call it would tilt to either the red or blue side. I'm not really sure what it's called again, we should just wait for atvrcr to come out with it I guess :D

After the cut scenes after each nightmare, you will enter a bar called "Stray Sheep" in which you can go to the juke box to choose a bgm (I feel great so i'll give you guys something if you didn't know, the first time you play, go to the juke box and click a song, you get a trophy :DD). Other than that, you will be able to drink alcohol, the more Vincent( the main character ) is drunk, you will be able to move faster in the nightmare climbing stages. You are also able to walk around and talk to other people, and they will sometimes ask you questions that will affect what ending you will get upon what you answer, an obviously you would be able to save, but not like most games, you don't click start to save, on the contrary, for PS3 you click triangle and you use your cellphone to save, now isn't that unique? From the cellphone you can also check what trophies you got for each stage (if you get a gold for all stages, if you want to replay the game on the same mode you can skip the stages!), and you can also reply the texts from either "K"atherine or "C"atherine, your answers will depend which you end up with, so pick carefully for your first go.

Lastly, for the bar, you are able to go inside the toilet to check pictures that you might not be able to see in the open, and wash your face. ALSO not to forget, there is the GOD DAMNED Rappunzel game machine, in which you have to clear 128 stages for a two trophies if my memory serves me right. I hope it does. Each stage there are different block attributes, and no I won't spoil you on that, so good luck climbing!

In my opinion, this game is a game in which you have to either have fast reflexes to find a way to climb up really fast, or have the wits to find a way to get you up. If you are too slow, the blocks that are falling from the bottom are going to fall to the point you fall with it and you will be sitting in front of you screen looking at the message "LOVE IS OVER". If you reach the point when you see it too many times, you might get pissed, but that's life I guess, you need to stick at it to see the rewarding endings! This game is also quite lengthy on the other modes, which I won't go into detail since it might lead to spoilers. Lastly there is a multiplayer mode, in which you are able to have a race up to the finish block with your friend or who ever it is, or it's a race to see who dies first (YES YOU CAN KNOCK THEM OFF AND YOU CAN DO STUFF TO KILL THEM TO WIN!)

I understand this is quite long so I'm going to be nice
TL:DR - 9 days , climb stages up, challenging as it goes along, make choices wisely and lastly keep at it to get your ending you want.

Game Rating : 8.8/10 Yes, I do know what I'm rating it here, I think I rated it fairly high as I really liked the endings, I would recommend this game to people that don't get pissed over losing tons, and also are willing to stick to it for the end game reward, but unfortunately, being the sore loser and hating losing I have decided to give it this rating. Story wise, I would have probably rated it 10.

Alright, the extra game modes are called "Babel" and "Colosseum", The babel being an extra mode of climbing, in which you have to climb up 4 stages, called Altar (Stage 1) , Menhir (I think you get the sequence), Obelisk and lastly Axis Mundi. These stages are supposedly a lot more challenging than the story mode, in which I agree for some of them, I would like to add that if you play this on pair mode it is significantly easier, especially since the steps needed to climb is alot less. The other mode is pretty much obvious from it's name, so i'll leave it to you to find out what it is if you don't know.

Otaku's post has put me in the mood to post a little something. Yep, I've made a mascot for our subgroup. I think this is a first. I plan to reveal her on the Tondemonai website any day now. I've just got to make some nicer drawings of her. I plan to make her hair more orangey while still keeping that pastel-ish look that I'm going for. In case you were wondering, I'm naming her Mitsuki. It's my favorite name! <3

So where have I been? In hiding mainly. I'm not much into the whole anime scene much anymore. I work on Naruto for tsuki-subs and that's it. I read the Naruto and Bleach manga. Thanks for all the good times and for actually stocking many of the series I wanted over the years (unlike B&N), thanks for making worthwhile to shop at your stores and most of all thanks for sucking countless dollars out of my poor wallet.

As you may or may not have heard, Borders is closing all it's stores as early as this Friday, July 22nd 2011. While we all pretty much saw this coming it is devastating to manga and book readers alike. What this means is that companies have even fewer outlets to release their books through, which means less money for said companies. B&N will continue to live on but they don't always carry everything, in fact their stock is usually a lot worse than Borders was. Well there's always Amazon, you can get everything there! True but not everyone has credit cards and (especially in the manga community) many readers are minors and cant order online. Of course they could ask their parents, but there are a lot of parent who would never buy their kids this (as they would put it) cartoon book with half naked girls. Oh well >.>

Back to Borders though.

I have shopped their for many many years and in fact I bought my first manga series there. I have always loved shopping there because of their rewards program, I can rack up points and use said points to get free manga at the end of the year. Hell I was around when they offered their special manga club thing, Buy 10 manga, get one free. I loved it.

I will miss the fact that if they didn't have something in stock, they would order it for me and it would arrive quickly. I have waited over 6 weeks for B&N to order something for me before, and by that time I had ordered elsewhere.

What will I do now? Move on. Sure I'll be sad but I will continue to buy stuff from B&N, Amazon, and Rightstuf. To all the people who can't order online because of the lack of a credit card, go to your local walmart and pick yourself up a pre-paid debit card.

Alright, the first game on my list. As some of you might know, this game is coming out this month, if I'm not wrong (open for corrections) it is released on the 26th, as I have already begun pre-ordering my copy. This game is a very unique game in my opinion, this is because there are several features, especially when Vincent (protagonist) goes to sleep, and goes into this nightmare, in which he is chased by various things/people/monsters, on the way to get out you have to pull out blocks to form a way up to the top in which you would be able to escape from.

Even after all said, it isn't as simple as it sounds, as it may takes a few tries to clear a stage depending upon your difficulty, and not all the blocks are normal blocks.... Anyway, after all said, I shall leave you guys to check upon this game if you are really keen on getting this game, perhaps as much as I am, since I have pre-ordered the limited edition that comes with the groovy BGM and the art book. Furthermore, I shall refrain from spoiling you guys with the other unique features of this upcoming came (I guess it's upcoming referring to the English version...)

Alright, second game on my list. As you can see from the title, it definitely is a promise unforgotten, between me and this game perhaps. This is because I have purchased (pirated the first two shhh....) all the other disgaea series, and have been eagerly waiting for this game. For the people that don't know what is disgaea about, this is a tactical(?) strategy game, in which you are allowed to move your characters that you have from this portal(point where you start at in every map) a certain amount of times, and you have to obviously beat the enemy. TO beat the enemy you can either melee them normally, use a skill (magic attack, etc.) What makes this game really appealing this time, is that they have made the graphics alot more sharper, thus making this game on another level compared to the other series on terms of graphics.

This game also introduces new systems, that you will have to find out yourself, I'm against spoiling too bad.... Anyway this game has also brought in several anime references for skills, in which it has made this game a much more worthy game of my time compared to most games, in which you have to sit and grind looking at the same skills all the time, but this game has a variety of skills that look nice and which appeals quite a bit to me. That's all for now, hope you guys are interested in these games after all that has been said!

To Those Who Actually Care

Remember when I said we weren't dead? Well that is still true. I had planned on writing stuff like my At3 and Neptunia reviews, but thanks to a nice crap out of my Ps3's HDD I was set back quite a bit. It died when I was out of town so I had to wait 2 weeks before I could send it in for repair, and then an extra 3 weeks for the repair process. So basically all I have been doing is trying to get my games (that I didn't have backed up at the time) back up to where I was. During the down time I was working on a little video using create.swf that is about 60% scripted and should clock in at around 10-15 minutes.

I know that no one really cares but there will be a revival of this site.

I'm Like, Not Dead and Junk

I don't think I have ever been away from this blog for this long but there is actually a decent reason for this I swear. First off I've out of town for about a month so I've been somewhat busy to be honest but I'll be returning sometime next week. Normally this wouldn't really affect my posting but lucky ol me, I got here and my keyboard doesn't work on my laptop for the most part >.> Yeah you could see why that would pose somewhat of a problem, and I don't feel like doing all my posts on my phone.

Don't worry I'll be resuming posting shortly. I've also been working on some stuff when I can. One of those things is the awesome Part 2 Video of my take on how this blog operates behind the scenes. Only a handful of people seen the first part, but don't worry I'll be combining both parts to make one longer video and release that. Ok I may have exaggerated, it's actually not all that great but oh well.

I have two game reviews to polish up so those are coming but I won't give an ETA since I'll probably pull a Sony and break the promise anyways.

Lastly, I have three posts to put up but they may end up on another blog as a guest writer (if they want any of them)

So what's on my mind? Well I've been playing Hyperdimension Neptunia but I won't tell you my thoughts on it quite yet. Oh as a side note, Portal 2 is pretty sweet.

Anyways I best be going now.

Going back in Time

Well I been getting extremely bored with more current anime titles even if they are a bit more rounded out and better than ALOT of older series/ova, So I started to go ahead and watch Superdoll Licca-Chan. This was a fun series even though it could have been more epic or just shorter for all it had in it >.> Think pokemon where too many episodes were much alike just different stuff happened for those events... ughhhhhh
But this has sparked something inside me to want to watch more 90s anime titles such as Dirty Pair, Video Girl Ai, Mezzo DSA, and some others.
I find them to be a bit more refreshing rather than watch the slew of newer titles that seem to get lost in itself pretty easily lately.
If you know of some good titles from the 90s post em below. ALSO DONT MENTION STUFF LIKE EVANGELION!!! EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE WATCHED IT BY NOW!!!

Spiral Vol 15 [Mini Review]

Well it's pretty hard to review this volume without being all spoilerish. There was two ways this series could have ended: a great ending to a great series or a complete trainwreck, luckily for us we got a good one. There were a few twists, I already kind of expected some of them, but for the people who didn't they will be surprised. I thought everything was wrapped up nicely and was handled well. I was worried that it could have been cheesy and would have ruined the whole tone of the series, thankfully the ending stuck to its guns and felt right.

I like a good anime series like the next guy and I happen to like ones that bring new ideas to the table or to take old ideas and make them FAR BETTER than the others. This one happens to take the idea of characters in dreams to come into reality and thus causes a bit of a mass mayhem in all sorts of ways. (No not in making random shit appear or flying around).

This story is based around 2 characters and more come barreling through like there's no tomorrow but that would leave this open to spoilers like you couldn't believe since how short this was (12episodes) and how packed it was full of story. But we have the main guy/leader, Yumeji Fujiwara, who is just an average highschooler but wait! He has a special ability tossed in right away with no clue as to why in the world he has it, but it is to somewhat predict the dreams of other people but the colors he sees in the..... odd.. And the other is Merry Nightmare which then shortly drops Nightmare and just goes by Merry for the rest of the series... FINE DONT HAVE A LAST NAME THEN. As you can probably guess by before as I was mentioning is that Merry is the dream character (OH WHO WOULDNT HAVE GUESSED BY THE NAME NIGHTMARE). But she got to reality on accident and tries to get back but cant.

Now this is all fine and dandy but I found the series to be lacking in only 12 episodes and the introduction of characters that you see once..... ok maybe twice the whole time and just gets ignored at the end of the series! (Season2 anyone) But you cant just leave it open like in Half Life 2 Episode 2 when you are captured and BAM you get smacked in the face with ending credits and you only feel compelled to sit there and watch through it to see if MAYBE THERES MORE but then slams you with the menu screen and no word as to when the next episode is coming out for several years.......

When I was watching this series I also felt that at times I wanted to call out several different anime styles that were in the series and being how lazy I am I didn't take the liberty of looking into seeing what studio made this work of interesting pile of something (not crap or trash) but a part of me yells "ARE THESE THE SAME GUYS THAT DID INDEX?" But there were other times that made me say noooo it's not. Dont get me wrong but the art style was good and had a bit of a consistent flow....Wait... Did merry just jump into the room with some strange pose for no reason? COME ON! Merry moves about in a very interesting manner and seems to also defy the laws of.... science I guess... by appearing where ever she wants. Now if I was Yumeji I would have probably crapped my pants and said "WHERE WERE YOU?!?!" I guess she's just a professional stalker who can appear on the other side of town and appear next to him in a blink of an eye at times....Probably so according to the last couple of episodes.

Now I know that this has been long winded and like a few walls but overall I have to say I give this 7/10, all depends on if the decide to make a 2nd season.

Expect me to give my thoughts on the reair of Haruhi (Yes Im still catching up)

Another Trip to Sanseido

Yep, I went back. This was my third trip to Mitsuwa and Sanseido. I'm kinda ashamed because of how much crap I end up walking away with, but at the same time, I'm satisfied. So then, let's take a look at what we got here...

World Only God Knows Volumes 7, 8, and 9: This will pair well with my 4 and 5 volumes. God Only Knows is a great manga to read anywhere because it's got the furigana alongside kanji and because there are pretty much no ecchi scenes. Family friendly goodness.

Minami-ke Volume 1: Bought this on a whim. Bad idea I guess, because when I opened it up after I got home... No furigana! Oh well... When I level up my kanji skills some more I'll be able to read it.

Super Dreadnought Girl Volume 1: Bought this on a whim as well. It does have furigana, so I'll read it when I have some free time.

And my favorite purchase,
He is My Master Volumes 3 and 4!!!: When I saw them I grabbed them immediately. Unfortunately, volumes 3 and 4 were the only ones in stock. I love He is My Master so much, and if you know me at all, I'm sure you've alread heard me say 1000 times how much I love Mitsuki.

Unfortunately, the manga I wanted most, Yumekui Merry, was nowhere to be found. I asked the clerk and he said they didn't have it. So that was a dissapointment, but finding the He is My Master manga made me happy.

Lastly, I bought the April issue of Megami magazine. I wasn't planning on buying any magazines this time because I only buy them for the picture and the posters, but the Madoka cover caught my eye.

Hamtaro Ham Ham Heartbreak

Hamtaro Ham Ham Heartbreak, or H4, is a game made for only the manliest of men. This game has puzzles that rival that of Zelda. It has characters with an amount of depth that rivals Tales of Vesperia. It has a plot with an intensity to rival Valkyria Chronicles. Seriously.

I went ahead and tracked this down at a Gamestop a few miles from my house and went ahead and bought it. (And three other Gameboy Advance games because Gamestop is having a "buy 2 get 2 free" promotion.) My sister has this game too; I bought this game so that we can play together over summer break to see who can beat the game first. It's gonna be fun.

Yep, we finally released episode 1! A little off schedule because the karaoke took time. Tondemonai always goes for quality over speed. Lotte no Omocha is my first "official translation." I say that because although Kirumin was a normal airing anime, it had mostly children in it, and thus I have deemed it a "children's translation." Lotte no Omocha on the other hand is a much more mainstream show with big words and confusing sentences. Nevertheless, the Tonde team worked their buts off to release this, so go and download it at the Tondemonai Website and enjoy!

Black Sunrise

Here is a very interesting trailer for an animated feature film, Black Sunrise, which displays an incredible amount of potential. It is not anime, it is not Japanese, but it certainly looks interesting, and I would love to watch it.

The film in production is by Nick Cross, a one-man studio who's done a number of shorts, and has now decided to tackle a feature film. If you enjoyed the trailer (Or, even if you didn't), I recommend you watch his short films (Yellow Cake, The Pig Farmer and The Waif of Persephone), to get an idea of what his stuff is like.

If you watched and enjoyed the trailer, or liked his shorts, I highly encourage you to donate here to his project. His end goal is $25,000, and he is asking for donations so that he can work on the feature full-time and not have to take on other projects to support himself. $25k might seem like a lot, but when you realize most feature length animated films usually have budgets upwards of $5 million (Toy Story 3 took 300 million iirc), $25k seems pretty small and very manageable.

I have no relation to Nick Cross at all. I'm just tired of seeing piss-poor corporate animation and entertainment. I want to see more intelligent animation, with a clear voice and purpose. I want to see animation that is not only breath-taking and beautiful, but also stimulates my mind and challenges me to think. And after watching his shorts, I have a great deal of faith in Nick and what he can do.

I want to see adult animation. Kids movies are good, and can be great fun, but I'm tired of how generic and throw-away most of it is becoming. I want something more. Yet at the same time, I'm sick of the "adult" animation that is produced relying on gratuitous violence or sexuality, lacking any thought and only eligible to be labeled "adult," not because it is mature and sophisticated, but because it contains content no parent would want their kid to see. Persepolis isn't adult because it contains a hardcore sex scene (which it doesn't), and sure kids can watch it, but it's "adult" because it's mature, and has a sense of depth and insight to it that no child could grasp.

Nick Cross' shorts (as well as this film, most likely) do contain sexual and excessively violent content. But at the same time they have a clear voice, a reason for being produced other than the shock value of seeing a cartoon bleed out it's eyes. These shorts contain important social commentary that is unseen in other animated properties. Sure, he balances it out, he gives you the bloodshed and sexual fanservice, but he doesn't let that distract from the purpose of the work.

His donations are off to a great start, nearly 1/5th of the way there. And if a dozen more people give a couple ($10? $25?) bucks here and there, then he'll reach the goal in no time. And, personally, I'd love to see this movie completed sooner than later.. I want to see an early 2012 release, not a projected release 3 years from now, you know?

Kekkaishi [Anime Ended/Manga Ongoing]

This Manga, Kekkaishi is about a Junior High Student called Yoshimori Sumimura, and is known as a "Kekkaishi"; Demon-Hunters that excel in creating barriers around the demons, then destroying, or capturing them. At Night, Yoshimori has to take on his task as a Kekkaishi defeat/exterminate those demons crowding around his school. During the day, he has his own demons to battle, which is his grumpy grandfather and his addiction to sweets. His neighbour, and childhood friend Tokine Yukimura, which is another practitioner of the way of the Kekkai. Their two families are battling over who are the true practitioners.
Alright, being honest here, I know myself that this summary isn't as captivating as the others, however I simply can't think of any other way to summarize it due to the spoiler issues, and I dislike spoiling other people before they even start reading/watching the manga/anime.

Anyway, forgetting that, this manga, Kekkaishi, has actually been a consistent manga all through out, where they progress in the story with the same kind of feeling all over, however when they reach to the rising action towards the climax, it is extremely interesting, to the extent that i couldn't stop reading until I finished that ark (i think it was almost 4 in the mourning =x. NOTE: Don't follow my example!) It is also very interesting due to the facts that they don't all stay the same from each battle, as in most common battle mangas, and they do not have cliche things like you would expect in a typical battle manga (ARGH I CAN'T SPOIL AGAIN!)

I personally rate this manga 9.5/10 due to the fact that if there is any romance in this, it has been quite subtle and didn't really give me the full feeling as to what I have expected from a battle manga like this. Other than the subtle romance that is in this, I definitely recommend you guys check it out, and if it weren't for the romance problem I would have probably left it as 10/10, oh well. This manga has a 51 anime series if you wanted to know, and the manga is still ongoing, and yes I am following it for those who wanted to know :)

Just to remind anyone who may have forgotten, ChiiKaku is our version of a drawing competition.

In ChiiKaku, the main goal is for you, the artist, to submit a drawing that follows all of the criteria for that particular competition. These criteria are most usually the keywords. ChiiKaku is all about the keywords(themes). For every competition, an amount of keywords will be revealed at the start of the competition. Each of the keywords must be incorporated into the drawing in some way. For instance, if one of the keywords is ribbon, then a ribbon should be incorporated into your drawing. If one or more keywords are not incorporated into the drawing, then your drawing will not be accepted.

Submissions should be sent to the Atv-Oni-Ota e-mail before the deadline. Our e-mail is atv-oni-ota@hotmail.com. Submissions will not be accepted after the deadline. Please include "ChiiKaku" or "atv-oni-ota" in the e-mail header. If something to identify the e-mail is not present, odds are high that it will be ignored.

After the deadline is over, a new post will be made featuring the candidate drawings in anonymous fashion. There will then be a voting period that will run for a number of days. After the polls close, the winner is decided and he or she will forever be preserved in the ChiiKaku Winner's Gallery.

This retails at $300 for a board with buttons, knobs, and faders..... loool But it's built like a tank!

Even though it's $300 it's only $75 for 4 months till paid off so it's one hell of a deal.
This gives me the control I need for what I do in mixing.

New Layout Atv-Oni-Ota 2.0

So one day I told Onion that I was getting tired of our current format of our layouts, and we needed some sort of change. If you look at our previous layouts we generally changed the background, icons and banners and they had always looked good, but I was beginning to feel like just simply reskinning our site was getting a bit stale. So after a bit of talking back and forth, I had pitched a few ideas of what I wanted to go for (many of which Onion had to tell me were impossible) and Onion had a few ideas to accommodate the style I wanted. He came back with a genius style that looked completely different from our old style without writing a whole new template.

So what's new in the version?

I decided to trim the fat from the sidebar and put it all into one bar. I felt they were cluttered and most stuff was becoming useless. It was completely working against the sleek look I wanted. (atvrcr)

New random backgrounds/banners. How cool is that, we have two right now with more coming soon.(Onion's idea)

Chatbox has been placed above content.It's out of the way yet easily accessible and doesn't clutter the sidebars (Onion)

and whatever else I am forgetting.

Onion did all the work, so if you enjoy this new style go thank him, he worked hard on it. I only did the sidebar trimming and icons.

Beetles Are Not Fun

Sure, you may think that beetles are fun. And I don't blame you. They're cute, peaceful, and funny looking. Right?

NO DAMMIT. Whenever it gets hot, a single beetle... A single, half-an-inch, scary as hell beetle always seems to find it's way into my room. I am strong around bugs. I'm not particularly scared. But this damn beetle... Let me explain its behavior.

1. This beetle is not provoked.
I have thrown shoes, socks, and buckets at this thing, and no matter what I throw at it, it doesn't move. It's like it's frikin invincible.

2. No heat, no beetle.
That's right. As soon as the weather goes below 55F, that damn thing goes into hibernation of something and I can't find where it is.

3. You never know when it will attack.
This thing can stay in one spot for hours on end without moving. Just standing there. Taunting me.

4. If can fly.
Not only can it fly. It is so sure of it's amazing invincibility that it flies straight into things at full speed. And rest assured, you will know when this beetle is around because it makes a horrible 'clunk' noise when it hits something. clunk clunk CLUNK. And after it hits something? It nosedives on to the floor where it blends in with my carpet...

Seriously, this thing is out to drive me insane. The other day, this thing appeared and I left my room immediately, went into the basement and didn't go back into my room for 3 days at which time it was cool out again. I slept on that uncomfortable couch for 3 days in that basement.

In conclusion, I hate this beetle.

A Release From Tondemonai Fansubs' Failure Subs Division - Saint October 21 Subtitles

Yes, and hello! Welcome to the Failure Aisle here at the Tondemonai Fansubs Supermarket! I, Onion, am in charge of this shoddy place! Now, let me explain what the Failure Subs Division does, and who makes it up. The only members of the Failure Subs Division, as of now, are Onion, Onion, and umm... a cool looking pair of sunglasses.

Now, what does the Failure Subs Division over there at Tondemonai Subs do exactly?! Good Question!! Basically, I get bored and I go and subtitle a random episode of anime, just because I can. Haha! Take for instance, this release. Saint October - 21. This one was actually a request from Atvrcr. A request from about 6 months ago or something like that. But, see, I got bored. So, I said, "Atvrcr, my friend, I'm finally gonna sub that Saint October episode for you." See, Atvrcr is upset that no one ever completed that show.

Anyway, I do not claim that these subs are accurate. I do, however claim that they are enough to get you through an episode with about a 50% chance that you are able to follow what is going on. See, I do these subtitles by listening to a line once. Then I either put an accurate translation, a near guess, or I leave it blank if I have absolutely no idea.

Finally, these subs are not meant to be taken seriously. I'm just pushing my limits by doing this. Does that mean my other subs are crap? No. The Tonde team works hard to provide the best translation possible in their official releases. The Tonde team is not involved in the Failure Division. In fact, they know nothing about it yet. Haha... But! These subs do have a purpose, as highlighted in these 2 points:

1. These subs allow you to understand the most of the dialogue of the anime episode you are watching

or

2. These subs make some actually good translators realize that they need to stop my madness and set things straight with a good set of subtitles.

Anyway, thanks for taking your time to listen to my nonsense. For now, just go and grab your crappy subtitles for Saint October 21. But remember, this is all Onion. If you have a problem with my crap, blame me.

My Lucky Star Messenger Bag Arrived

Yep. It has arrived. I'm going to keep this post short because there is really little that can be said about a bag. Well, It's a bag. And it's got Konata on it. I must say though, this bag is of a much higher quality than I thought it was going to be. It actually feels like it could withstand a few textbooks, not that I'm going to try. It's got some pockets on the outside, and it feels nice. What I really like about this bag is the 'grayscale' look that it has for Konata and the tan color. It really gives the bag a sort of "I'm going to the beach!" feel.

Deadman Wonderland [Ongoing Manga/ Anime coming out this season]

Deadman Wonderland is a manga that is about a boy called Ganta, one day all of his classmates are killed with him being the sole survivor. Suspicious enough as it is, since he is the sole survivor he is convicted of the crime of murdering all his classmates, thus sentenced to the bizarre prison known as 'Deadman Wonderland'. In this prison, the prisoners are set out to fight for survival, while this happens Ganta needs to find out the identity of the murderer that murdered his classmates. Will Ganta be able to survive in this prison..? Or will he succumb to the prisons methods?

If you guys wanted to know, if i'm not wrong, this anime is airing on the 17th of April, i'm not sure who is going to sub it yet, however I honestly recommend you guys to check out the manga or just follow the manga, it is really intense and traps you in it's pace.

Alright, down to the real stuff, this manga is so action packed and filled with twists to the point that I actually really lose track of time, and actually get excited to continue reading about what happens next, especially since how the events turn out in this manga ( I can't say what I really want to say since it would be spoilers boohoo ).

My rating of this manga would be 10/10 because of its continuous plot twisting events, and also battles that are so dramatic and action packed that it kind of sucks me into it, and I can't seem to be able to stop reading until I read it to the latest chapter or till the end of the battle. This manga is also very intriguing in the way that I have not seen many manga up till now about a boy that is convicted for a murder and looks for survival or something close to this, this uniqueness I should say dragged me in, and perhaps maybe you guys too. I definitely hope you guys either pick up the anime and follow it since it's coming out soon, or just have a read of the first few chapters of the manga and see if you like it.

After 3+ years of using the best phone in existence, my lg env, I've decided that it was time for me to move on. I went ahead and bought the htc Thunderbolt. Of course this is my first smartphone. I know how the batteries can be with these phones, so I'm taking the time to fully charge it before using it, and that is why I'm here writing this post. :(

So yep, I'm totally loading it up with anime and manga, so I'll update this to let everyone know how that works out!

Update: I was having problems with the battery, but now that I've figured out how to turn off the 4g, it's seemed to have stopped draining as fast. In other news, watching anime on this thing is like a dream come true! No need to convert from avi or mp4, and the resolution is amazing!

Worst case scenario, Ichika's IS doesn't respond for some reason (be it zero shield energy or some other technical problem) and Ichika plummets into the ocean and breaks every bone in his body, or worse, he gets expelled from the school for jumping from cliffs. Really, how does an IS fit inside of a bracelet? Maybe they use teleportation technology to pull their IS's out of alternate dimensions. Any way you look at it, it doesn't seem to be a very good idea to go jumping off of cliffs assuming that your IS will pop up. As soon as we see an instance in the anime of someone's IS not responding, my point will have been proven.

Infinite Stratos Episode 9: Oceans Eleven

I have nothing constructive to say about this episode despite the two-week delay. At first glance it may seem like a fanservice episode, but in reality, it really is just a fanservice episode.

Laura was fairly cute in this episode, although I'm not sure how I should react with her sudden personality shift.

Chifuyu-sama was epic win this episode, if I might add. I made sure to get as much screens of her in her mizugi so I (and you) may use it as an educational reference material at some point later on. I would've also LOVED to see more of Houki in her mizugi, but alas, the only appearance she made in this episode were at the beginning and at the very end.

Yep. I've finally gained enough courage to go ahead with ChiiKaku! It took weeks of preparation and a lot of help from Atvrcr, but here it is ready to go! What is ChiiKaku you ask? ChiiKaku is our version of a drawing competition. You may know it better as "Atv x Oni" which is what Atvrcr and I called it for preliminary test purposes.

Now, "Atv x Oni" and ChiiKaku have lots of similarities, but also some differences, so I'd just like to establish the major rules here since this is the first official ChiiKaku.

In ChiiKaku, the main goal is for you, the artist, to submit a drawing that follows all of the criteria for that particular competition. These criteria are most usually the keywords. ChiiKaku is all about the keywords(themes). For every competition, an amount of keywords will be revealed at the start of the competition. Each of the keywords must be incorporated into the drawing in some way. For instance, if one of the keywords is ribbon, then a ribbon should be incorporated into your drawing. If one or more keywords are not incorporated into the drawing, then your drawing will not be accepted.

The deadline. The deadline is there more to give people who want to enter the free time to do so. If we have the deadline over a number of days instead of a number of hours like in Atv x Oni, it will hopefully give more people more chances to get their drawings done.

Submissions should be sent to the Atv-Oni-Ota e-mail before the deadline. Our e-mail is atv-oni-ota@hotmail.com. Submissions will not be accepted after the deadline. Please include "ChiiKaku" or "atv-oni-ota" in the e-mail header. If something to identify the e-mail is not present, odds are high that it will be ignored.

After the deadline is over, a new post will be made featuring the candidate drawings in anonymous fashion. There will then be a voting period that will run for a number of days. After the polls close, the winner is decided and he or she will forever be preserved in the ChiiKaku Winner's Gallery.

So that's really it for the rules. I'm sure I forgot something, but that's why we have the About ChiKaku page. Go check out that page for more information about ChiiKaku.

Ao no Exorcist (Blue Exorcist) is set in the world Assiah, in which all humans live in. The dimension that they live in has another seperate world, Gehanna, in which all the demons live in. Normally, contact between the two is impossible, and also travelling between the two is not possible. However, the demons are able to pass through to the world Assiah by possessing anything already inside Assiah. Satan, the god of all demons, has only one thing he doesn't have, a human container that can hold him inside. For this purpose in search for a container, Satan has a human wife, in which he had a son, called Okumura Rin born to be his container. But will his son, Okumura Rin give into the desires of Satan? Or will he choose a seperate path and go against his father, Satan?

Alright, incase all of you that wanted to know, yes this manga is going to be an anime starting from next season, and apparently GG fansubs are taking this up.

Anyways, this story is extremely interesting, many battles with quite intriguing detail which drew me into reading this manga. The overall plot so far (it's ongoing people!) has been extremely interesting, especially since the latest chapters have begun in a new arc already. This manga overall has arcs to introduce different things, such as Rin's growth, friends and etc.

If you people are out there, looking for a interesting action, adventure and a fantasy manga, this is definitely on the top of my list to recommend to you all. Especially since most manga's about demons are either love stories, or something not very intriguing excluding a few other series which i dont't think i would name. Lastly, this manga has a pretty high rating overall, as for it has gone one for quite long in the JUMP manga publishers.

My rating 10/10 I thought perhaps if i tried it, i might actually have stepped on something incredible. Thus i had flipped through the first few pages(well probably scrolled because I read it online >_>), and was suddenly engrossed in it, because i kept wondering what would happen next, and this happens quite rarely for me especially when i find a manga about demons, because most of the time i hear its about a demon, its probably a love story, thus im reluctant to read some demon love mangas to be honest with you all. Well if you guys seriously want something to read, please make sure you read this.

Infinite Stratos Episode 8: Find Out My Mind

Best episode to appear so far for the series, or at least in my honest opinion. Lots of action, little drama down-time, and the most appealing of all, converting another gal to the harem keikaku. Now, unlike TLRD, Momo isn't here to coordinate and execute, or rather, there's no such character who's taking that role. However, if things just work themselves out and the ending comes to a nice, beautiful and clean canvas, then who needs such a character ploy. Eh, Ichika? Atta' boy. You go get 'em ladies without doing or knowing anything.

Since I've already set-up a draft of the evaluation from my previous post, I intend to continue with the same style and layout. A discussion of the occurrences in this episode is a must, because the story does get progressive even for just a tiny amount of time. I'm not going to go into great length and detail about every second of the episode, because that's simply bad style. However, I will point out the personal extremes that I noticed after seeing this installment.

Laura, the latest girl that fell victim (although technically it's really the opposite...) to the harem because of Ichika's godly charm and cunningness, is pretty much the ultimate focus of this episode. We get to see her upbringing and what kind of lifestyle she had been surrounded been for the most part, and if not her entire life. She was ultimately brought up to function as a weapon (few other titles ring a bell?), and her entirety was comprised of being the best in the field of combat. This changed suddenly, however, because of the introduction of the IS system by none other than everyone's idol, Shinonono Tabane. This caused a great deal of friction on her well-being; enough to distance her pride as the ace in combat from her actual ability to operate the machine.

Her left eye has been implanted with (a) nano-machine(s) to further increase her compatibility with the IS, but the desired results, I'm assuming, have been far from the expected. Chifuyu-sama (I love you!) then came along, and trained Laura, as well as her platoon, to be awesome again. Stuff follows, and here we are back to the present time.

The other point I wanted to make was how awesome Houki's reactions (as always) were this episode. For lack of better simple adjectives to use, I will let you decide instead how to describe her funny scenes. I could write about her role in the match during the early minutes, but that's probably better off watched than narrated or written about, so I won't put any detail on it.

Note: Win and awesome are coined, so you can't use those.

[Help] Atv is Going to Build a Computer

Once again I need to build a computer, and that means that I also once again need your help. I don't know all the things about building my own computer so I will tell you what I want out of it, and hopefully you guys can give me a nice idea of the stuff I should buy. I have a list of what I want out of it

I am getting an AMD Phenom II x6 1090T or 1100T (3.2ghz) So that should help you when helping me pick a motherboard

I want this computer to be for gaming. When I say gaming I mean something I can have the settings on 1080p with the graphics turned up ( or 720p with maxed out settings). They don't have to be all the way up but I want them to look pretty. In other words I want to have most of the settings of a game on high.

Like I said before, I need a good video card or multiple if that's what I would need, but I do also need an HDMI out

The price range is somewhere between 800-1300 USD. This doesn't mean you have to pick things until the price is maxed out but it also doesn't mean you have to pick the bare minimum either. I am somewhat flexible on the price as well.

I want this to at least be able play upcoming games such as Battlefield 3, and future games as well. Aka I don't want this to already be outdated when I buy it.

I want to be able to upgrade this in the future.

I am probably looking for around 8GB RAM (expandable to 16) , 1TB HDD, and around 6- 8 USB ports.

Sorry if this stuff sounds demanding, I just have an idea of what I want but don't know how to build it myself.

Nurarihyon no Mago [Anime/Manga] Review

Nurarihyon no Mago, is a manga, about a boy, called Nura Rikuo. He is a quarter demon (yokai) and half human, Rikuo has the ability to change into his demon form only after the sun has set, this is because he is a quarter demon. He lives in a house filled with spirits,demons along with his grandfather. He tries desperately to escape from his duties as a demon, and trying not to fulfill the duties his grandfather wanted to place upon him, which is taking over the Nura clan.

However, Rikuo is a different type of demon, not only because he is a quarter demon, but the fact that he helps humans. Eventually he had come to accepting his demon blood, thus taking up the title of Young head of the Nura clan. Now Rikuo has to gather his Hyakki Yakko (Night parade of One hundred demons) to follow him, as he defends the Nura clan from various attacks from different clans.
Alright, This manga was originally a oneshot, incase you guys may have strolled across something similar to the synopsis stated above. This manga has incredible artwork, and you can see a bit of the details put into the artwork from the picture above. The plot is quite intense, but at the same time they give you time to breath, before they dive into another arc.

The arcs in this story are full of events, all linked up, leaving each chapter to have a cliff-hanging ending before the end of the arc. The anime, which follows the manga has a few parts that are a filler, but mostly following the manga. The anime only shows up to chapter 1 all the way till chapter 47, i'm not completely sure if it follows the manga 100%, but the plot is followed.

If you guys are reluctant to read it, try watching the anime, the first few episodes, and if you like it you should continue all the way, and if you want more, you can begin reading the manga at chapter 47 after you finish the anime. But if in any case you do forget the story you could always reread from the start :).

My rating : 10/10 The plot of this story is really interesting, to the point when i began reading i was thoroughly engrossed and could read for about an hour or two before realizing how much time had past. The artwork is incredibly detailed to a certain point, which makes things clearer, as the demons have to have some kind of thing that differentiates them from the humans. Lastly, the artwork had to be very accurate, to not make the pages confusing especially if a demon uses their skills/powers, which could make the reader confused, but does not occur through the manga nor anime. I definitely would say you have a read at this, no matter what your preferences are, because i feel that this is a general manga/anime people would enjoy, especially if they like Action genre anime/mangas

Infinite Stratos Episode 7: Blue Days / Red Switch

After much internal debate, I ended up blogging this episode after all.

The tardiness of this post is, quite frankly, intentional; furthermore, the initial plan was in fact, a lack of post for last week's episode, but due to several (recent) conditions, I found it somewhat necessary to come up with an assessed review. I'm going to open my review for episode 8 with this post, while maintaining my weekly quota at the same time.

With that said, I'll be mentioning some points in the episode that piqued my interest; containing, but not exclusive to rabbles and 'whatnots', as well as magically appearing-and-disappearing headbands.

By far, the focus of this episode is Laura being godly awesome with her Schwarzer Roegen. Clearly the Germans have done their Physics homework, and have been successful at implementing, bending, theorizing and applying the Laws of Motion for their IS. Cancelling inertia of a moving mass? Brilliance or pure madness? Either way, as it stood, none of the representatives stood a chance against her, including Ichika and his Leeroy Jenkins plan. In the end, Chifuyu pwned all of them though.

I know I said I haven't taken any particular interest in Laura, but after this episode, I kind of grew to like her. She's clearly by far the only female that has not fawn all over Ichika in a mere two-episode run. That's worth something at least.

This particular segment of the series also revealed a little back story for Houki's past. It's been revealed that due to the introduction of the IS by her sister, her family had been moving from place to place frequently out of protection from being held by organizations and groups that are trailing to make IS available for the military for use in combat. In the present, she reminisces about her behavior in the past, and narrates a short dialogue about the difference between strength and violence. Her take on it is quite interesting, but then again, I'm more interested in overwhelming power and absolute obedience.

Also, did anyone notice how Cecilia's head bandages suddenly turned into her usual blue headband, and then reverted back to bandages after several seconds?

Mx0 (エムｘゼロ) manga [Review]

Mx0 or known as エムｘゼロ is a manga that revolves around a boy, called Kuzumi Taiga. He is a hot tempered boy, and also is strong in fights. When interviewed for joining Seinagi Private High School, he is asked a question, "If you could use magic, what would you use it for?" He replied "Conquer the World."

This made the other applicants burst out in laughter, then a girl, Hiiragi Aika, a cute girl that was sitting beside him, realized how rude it was of her to laugh at him thus apologizes to him with his hands in hers. He desperately tries to get into Seinagi Private High School to have a change to talk with this girl. But little did he know that Seinagi Private High School was a school focusing on teaching magic, and that he had no magic capabilities....

Alright, that's the basic synopsis of the first few pages in the first chapter, if you like it I definitely recommend you read the series, because it is very interesting, to the point that i had re read it again recently. Other than the rushed down ending, because i think this series might have been forced to stop, or other reasons, this manga is a really good manga. The relationships of the characters are deepened all throughout the manga, which is one of the several reasons why i really liked this manga.

The artwork of this manga is quite nice, as it was made in 2006, especially the details later on in the manga. If you guys like a magic and fantasy manga, I am sure that this should be able to fit to your preferences. There are quite a few comedy acts within this manga, so it is not all serious and tense all throughout the manga. Also, if you think you might not like this manga, i seriously ask you to try the first chapter atleast, before just walking away from this manga.

My Rating : 9.5/10 : Fantastic artwork, plot and also how the story was laid out. It had attracted me to read it all the way through out just from touching the first chapter (not really touching, but having a glimpse at.). If you guys are looking for an interesting manga to read, this is definitely the right pick for you, especially if your preferences fit mine i would say.

Marvel Vs Capcom 3 [XBOX360/PS3] [Review]

First post, one of my favourite fighting games ever, and probably will be the best fighting game for me this year, unless a stunner would appear. I have been tracking down this game for the past two months, as you should be able to tell, i'm a huge marvel vs capcom fan, and I have been basically engrossed with this new unique fighting style. Before continuing on with my rants, this game is set with 36 characters, not including DLC characters, and have characters from both Marvel and Capcom sides (Marvel vs Capcom ). The characters are ranging from groups, like Street Fighter, Dark Stalkers, X-Men, Iron Man, Spider Man, Devil May Cry, Mega Man (Featuring zero this time!), Hulk and many more.

Gameplay: This game is a fighting game, where the player is allowed to choose a team consisting of 3 characters, and can be from either the Marvel or Capcom side, maybe a mix, maybe just from one side, fully up to the player. Marvel vs Capcom 3's gameplay is set to be a fast motion action fighting game, where the players are enabled with high speed attacking moves, depending on the character, and are enabled to knock back, launch, and simple attacks such as punches and kicks.

Controls: The control layout in this game is divided into two compartments, the "Normal" controls and the "Simple" controls. The normal controls, as stated in it's name, is the ordinary fighting style, something similar to street fighter, especially for the direction movements. The attacks are split into 3 buttons, the square, circle, triangle, in those 3, the kicks and punches are set to come out naturally. They have a launch button, which enables to hit the person up into air with pressing the button x (these controls are for PS3, Sorry to you 360 players =x). The "Simple" controls are the movements set into pressing just a button, allowing it to be much more convenient to players that are new to the game.

Deeper Details : In this games, certain players are enabled to hover/fly, but for a certain period of time(we can't have people flying all game long to waste time and get a win from that now can we?). The combos are quite simple, especially since there is a mission mode, which will be in deeper detail later on this post. The guarding in this game is quite complex, as there is a normal guard, where as normal fighting games you just hold back, crouch back or jump back depending on where the other player decides to hit you on. There is an additional guard, called "Advancing Guard", this appears when the player presses two attack buttons simultaneously, this reduces the chip damage received to the player greatly depending on how fast the player presses it. Lastly there is the newly introduced mode, which is the X Factor mode, this is activated from pressing all the attack buttons simultaneously, this mode makes the player's current character or sub character to heal faster(if they are still alive and have a red bar on their hp to regenerate.) and also deal a lot more damage. This is usually used for cancelling hyper combos (can be read up on attack buttons later.) and do it again for additional damage.

Lastly, there are two buttons to change opt out to the sub characters, where if you press them they would come out to give an assist attack, which can be chosen at the start of the select screen when you pick the player. The buttons are L1 and R1 on the PS3 controller, and to change out to them you have to hold them. I feel that i might go on too long, the rest can be checked in the marvel vs capcom 3 guidebook/hand book/booklet inside the case and the inside the game itself.

Characters: As already described, Marvel and Capcom characters only, a huge variety from games, 4 characters to be unlocked from gaining player points.

Mission Mode: Alright, the main knitty gritty of this game i would suppose, in this mode, it is exactly the same as Street Fighter's Trials, the game would give you a list of moves, to execute together, before having the mission cleared. If you are stuck on the moves, hit start then clcik on mission objectives, where they would show the buttons and the movements to do the hits/combo/attacks.

Training Mode: Self-explanatory

Online Mode: This mode is extremely fun, but that also depends on whether you can win or not i would suppose, if you are a beginner, i would recommend getting a few buds and playing the player lobby, where it isn't recorded onto the player's license plate in the game.

Attack Buttons : As mentioned, the moves aren't that complex for normal control settings, to pull of hyper combos , it usually is just holding the analog down and sliding it forward then pressing two attack buttons, or the other direction. Audio : A different theme song that is played during the game/match, the theme song changes depending on the character that is subbed in with lower hp and etc. Overall, the theme songs sound great along with the BGM.

Voices : Alright I daresay, Capcom characters have the option to change their voices to japanese so feel free to change them.

My Point of View: If you guys are in for a fast paced fighting game, this is definitely the game that you should be looking out for, and i also must say that this game is addictive as long as you find it fun, but at the end of the day it is all up to your preferences.

Overall Rating: 10/10 Awesome - Best fighting game on par with blazblue IMO, fast paced action fighting game, what else could i ask for? If you love fighting games, please make sure you have a try at Marvel vs Capcom 3

Alright, I'm AsuraHime, used to be called BakaRanger too, now known as [Baka]Asura on the baka-wolf forums incase you guys might know me. I am from Baka-Wolf, in which i met atvrcr and had brief chats with onion if im not wrong. You can refer to me as Asura. I'll be a new mod/poster/blogger/ what ever you want to call it. I guess i'll be mainly sticking towards more manga review for now. So you could probably look forward to a few reviews coming up as long as i have the juice to do it.

For those who are interested to know about my background, i'm a pretty active person, I participate in my school team sports, and i do watch anime regularly, but manga more often now adays, as it is more of a interval thing to do while i rest from gaming. Ichigo Mashimaro Volume 5

Yeah, I know it's been out for a while, but I just got around to purchasing it. Years ago when I got around to buying and reading up to volume 4, bookstores stopped selling Ichigo mashimaro in-store. I've no idea why, since it's the best manga in the world. The other day I decided reread the series for what, the 4th time(?), so I went ahead and bought volume 5 on amazon. Hopefully Tokyopop releases volume 6 soon.

Infinite Stratos Episode 6: My Roommate is a Blonde Gentleman

I actually forgot that I was supposed to blog about this. I don't particularly have a good reason for an excuse other than the two midterms that came up very recently, which I'm pretty sure I did really bad on, and the butt-load of homework that was whimsically assigned.

I can't really say much about this episode, other than it was decent. Despite the obvious lack of Houki being awesome (compensated by Charles's fan-service shots), the episode did progress a little bit forward. We also got to the reason behind why Chifuyu-sama didn't show up for the 2nd Championship (which eventually led to her forfeiting). What I don't get is how the Germans knew where Ichika was.

I haven't particularly gone attached to Laura, or at least not yet. I'm still waiting for a good reason for her actions, which I'm very much hoping to see this week.

That's pretty much it. I won't write anything about the Charles incident since it'll simply be a repetition of what I said on the last review. It wasn't very hard to figure out what 'his' secret was since 'he' was introduced, and how it would've turned out, so I won't go out of my way to explain the obvious.

Is it me, or does she look like a Valkyria?

K-ON! US Thoughts

Well the info that K-ON! is coming to the US has been out for a while but I want to say my 2 cents. Before I get too into it, I want to say I am pleased with this, most people always jump to the "anime only belongs in Japan" or "I don't want to hear the dub, I won't buy this" imedietly. Well guess what you don't have to buy it, this is more for the people who actually want to own it. I for one will buy it.

Ok here's where I have to be mean and subject you to this:

Ok let that sink in.... Back? Good. Yeah the dub doesn't sound all that great right? For the people saying "The dub is terrible, I won't buy this" thankfully there is this brand new feature that allows you to actually change the audio track on the fly! Crazy I know, technology has advanced so much. Alright enough of me being a smart ass. I will probably struggle and listen to the dub one time and then never again.

As for releases, the vol 1 Bluray and DVD will come out 4/26/11. Wait volume 1, you mean they aren't releasing it in a boxset? Yeah that's right, vol 1 will contain eps 1-4 and will cost $25. I have already heard complaints about this fact, but for fucks sake the show is only 13 episodes it's not going to cost much in the end. I'm not going to buy the dvd set but I will be getting the bluray.

Personally, I kind of like that they are going to only put 4 episodes on the disc. The reason i like this is because since there will only be 4 episodes the quality can be higher. They won't try to cram a bunch of episodes on the discs and make the beauty suffer.

Well that's just my thoughts for now, what do you think?

Subete ni Iya Girl Review

Subete ni Iya Girl! Take a look at the cover. Are you scared away because of the art? Hopefully you're not like that. It's a bad habit that I admit I have myself. But that's beside the point! Look at the cover! Yes, that's an arrow in that girl's head. Nope, it's not fake. This is what drew me in in the first place. If not for the arrow, I probably would've walked away. But I sure am glad I didn't.

This is a great manga and there are some things I really loved about it. It can be serious at times when it needs to be serious. And yet when it's meant to be funny you may catch yourself laughing out loud. Each chapter is relatively short so you really feel like you get a lot done when you start flying through chapters; but don't worry, there's no shortage of content. Subete ni Iya Girl is 86 chapters long.

The characters, huh? Yeah. This manga doesn't have the greatest art, but I don't really think the art was meant to look perfect. The drawing style fits perfectly to the atmosphere of the manga. Nearly all of the characters besides the select few main characters are drawn in really extreme ways. And when I say extreme, I mean... ugly? I guess... But not really ugly because it can be quite funny. I really like the quirkiness of the drawings to be honest. I can still picture Asumi's squinting face in my head. And it's making me smile O__O.

A lot of the stories in Subete ni Iya Girl are based on situational comedy. One character will be under the impression that the other is talking about something totally different than what they're actually talking about. And the author always makes sure to put in thought bubbles that give us direct insight as to what each character is thinking when things are said; it's a really great way to get some laughs flowing.

In conclusion, Subete ni Iya Girl is one of those manga that you totally expect to just be boring but actually turns out to be a masterpiece that you'll want to re-read as soon as you finish it. The 8 page chapters are awesome for quick reads. The characters are hilarious. And for those of you looking for plot, there is some in there! And the ending is really great.

My Rating: 10/ 10

No doubt. Ten out of ten. I was really addicted to this while reading it. If you're on the fence about whether you want to read it or not and are thinking about doing one of those "I'll try one chapter and decide if I'll follow through" things then you've got to go straight to chapter 37. It was one of the funniest chapters. So, everyone get out there and start reading Subete ni Iya Girl right now!

Ore no Imouto PSP Unboxing

Anime in 3D!

Well, not really. We just bought a new 3D television for the superbowl and I thought I'd test out what it could do. Right now, through the blu-ray player, I'm able to get avi, wma, and mkv to play. I also tested mp4 but it said it didn't support that. Isn't that weird? To be able to support mkv and not mp4... Whatever. Of course, there's no subtitle support, so unless the subs are burned in then it's pretty much useless.

I also tried putting the TV in 3D mode. What happens is, somehow the TV makes whatever you're watching into 3D. It's a really crappy 3D, like it just adds the slightest illusion of depth, but it is pretty cool. Not recommended for long periods of watching anime because it's just not worth it... I tried taking a picture, but it came out like crap, sadly. Hopefully one day anime will be broadcast in 3D.

Finally Got a Bookcase

Yep, finally got a bookcase! My manga and other books won't be laying about on my floor anymore. I thought I'd do a before and after to show the transformation. The before shots:

Most of my figures sit on top of this Go board the I made with my Dad. I've also got some trading cards, a framed picture of some random girl, and various B-Daman products in the background.

Never before has there been two honorable mentions in the same day! Well trust me, it's worth it. This is from episode 2 of Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka. After screwing up a horrible pick-up line, Ayumu decides to break dance! Yes! What's better recovery is there for a bad pick-up line anyway? This scene is SO funny that the first time I watched it I was laughing fr about a whole minute and I had to rewind to see what I missed. It's that great.

Infinite Stratos Episode 5: Boy Meets Boy

Quite an interesting episode, and at the same time, extremely enjoyable. I'll get to the reason for the latter in a bit after looking at some of the more progressive, if not dull, points the episode covered.

The introduction system for the series still holds true for the most part. It's roughly a span of two episodes to begin and conclude the insertion of a character, and a bit of time in the previous episode is used to start the next cycle. Laura was added right at the very last moment of this episode, and it would seem that her story would be told in conjunction with Charles'. Now, since I have not read the light novels covering the material up to this point, I'm not really sure what's going to happen. Frankly though, I'm not expecting much story depth behind Charles' secret, because really, if it's just "him" getting found out/revealed to be a "her", then I would've been fine either way had she started as a "her" instead.

On the other hand, I AM looking forward to Laura's story. I haven't really thought up any kind of theory behind her character, but at the very least I'm pretty sure she's more than a simple acquaintance of Chifuyu-sama. And whenever Chifufu-sama is involved, I ALWAYS look forward to it.

Lastly, the one person that made me enjoy this episode the most was Houki. Now, don't get me wrong, I've always loved Houki. I think she is an excellent character both in appearance and in dialogue. It's even more fun seeing her so amused and bewildered just by Ichika touching her. Her reaction to the room change was priceless, and then still, Ichicka remained, remains, and will still continue to remain oblivious and unknowing of the world around him. Tsk tsk tsk.

I found the little snippet at the beginning featuring Ran and her brother to be also very funny. I'm amazed by how many girls fawn over Ichika---sorry, I lied. I'm not really amazed. I guess that's to be expected for a harem show eh? Win.

We seem to have increased our IS-suits fanservice shots. Spornax is happy.

Way to go Barnes and Noble

So recently I have fallen somewhat behind on buying manga, I decided I had to go and buy the volumes of Spiral I am missing while I have the money.
Reason why I chose this over some of the other stuff I am behind with is for two reason: 1. I love the series more than anything else I am reading right now, and 2. I am afraid it is going to have a short print run so I want to be sure to get them all. I take a quick look at my shelf and see that I am missing 12, 13, and 14. On Monday I decided I would go ahead and get them, well my bank is already closed so I can't go deposit money I have in hand. Well looks like buying them online is out of the option and if I procrastinate I will end up spending my money on something else >.<

Well to hell with it I'll go down to Barnes and Noble and place an order for them (I already assumed they wouldn't have them in stock since they didn't last time I was there). Yeah I've had some problems doing this before but I can give them another shot. I get there, do a quick check to see if they have restocked the series yet, nope but they did sell a majority of the other volumes (when I went there to buy the 3rd Spice and Wolf Novel they had several copies of volume 11 and a single copy of vol 1-4 and 7-10) and now they only had volumes 1-3. But I'm getting off track x_X

Anyways I go to the desk place my order and ask how long until they will be there. She says within 4-5 business days. Ok good I figure it will most likely be here on Saturday. Well this morning (Friday) I get a call from them saying that my order has arrived. Sweet! I drive down there and she hands me a single book.... Umm there are supposed to be 3." Oh those haven't arrived, it says they should arrive around the 8th or so but it can take longer." Wtf. Ok so I'm not so pissed about the fact that it may get here a little bit late (although it does irritate me a bit). What really pisses me off is that they would tell me that my order is there not "partial order". Why not wait until everything arrives >.> As a matter of fact, why weren't these things shipped together?

FFS I wasted gas driving my ass there not to mention time. Hell it's kind of irritating thinking that I have to wait until the 8th solely based on the fact that I could have put money in the bank Tuesday, it would become available to me Wednesday and then ordered through Amazon and still received my entire order before the 8th >.<

I didn't mind giving them another shot because I like getting manga there when I can so they will keep stocking the shelves. But in all honesty I think this will be the last time I do so. Word of advice B&N; don't be inefficient, ship my stuff together, don't waste my time, I don't want a morning call if you don't have all my shit in hand, and get your shit together, I want a realistic time frame don't tell me 4-5 days when it can mean 4-5 day or 4-?? days.

Reason the last thing irritates me so much is because like I said I had trouble with them before. I had ordered Shugo Chara 2&3 they told me the same thing but it didn't arrive for 3 weeks and I ended up going out of state and buying it at Borders lol. I figured it was just a fluke that time, let's see if they try to pull that shit again D: Seriously guys, come on.
